The SAT exam is necessary for undergraduate or bachelor's degree programs in the United States or Canada. Most colleges there need SAT scores to analyze your profile. SAT registration is available both online and offline. An SAT registration is often completed online.

1 Online SAT Registration

The majority of SAT registration takes place online. It might take up to 30 minutes to register for the SAT online. On the SAT registration website, you can also halt your enrollment and resume it later. You must follow the steps outlined below to register for the SAT online:

2 Sign Up

  • Log in or create an account on the official SAT registration page.
  • You must create a College Board Profile on their official site by filling out the SAT registration form data for the online College Board SAT registration.
  • Click on "Sign Up" and provide the requested details (personal information).
  • After filling out the form, you will be directed to a screen where you may enter your Username, Password, and Security Question. You’ll get a preview. After confirming it, you’ll get an e-mail to your registered email address, and you’ll be able to complete the SAT registration form.

3 Complete the SAT Registration Form

You must then log in with your username and password and click on register for SAT in the next step of the SAT registration 2022 process. Following that, you must add your:

  • Information about yourself, your high school, and your mailing address
  • Enter academic data such as GPA/Rank, Coursework, Extracurricular Activities, and College information. Financial aid, part-time work, and other options are available.

4 Scheduling SAT Test Dates and Locations

You will be given a list of SAT registration dates and SAT exam centers to choose from after entering the testing country's information. 

You may proceed to pay the SAT registration fee when the SAT dates and center selection process is completed.

Similar procedures apply to SAT registration. You need to choose the subject you wish to take up.

5 SAT Registration by email

An SAT Registration Booklet, Registration Form, and Return Envelope are required to register by mail.

The completed registration form, along with the appropriate payment, must be returned in the envelope supplied.

The SAT Registration Booklet includes information such as test dates, registration deadlines, costs, instructions, test center codes, and other registration-related details.

You can register for an SAT exam on an in-mail basis too. However, the SAT registration on an in-mail basis is only applicable in the following circumstances

  • Requesting testing in a more convenient location, if the test location is more than 120km away from home.
  • If there are religious events on Saturdays, you might request Sunday testing for the first time. A religious leader's signature is required.
  • Using a check or a money order to pay
  • If you are under the age of 12 must register solely by mail, and a photo is not necessary at the time of registration.
  • If you are unable to upload a digital photo during the online registration procedure.
  • Using an SAT international representative to register

The following are the steps to register for the SAT via mail:

  • The Student Registration Guide for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests, which is accessible at the schools, is required.
  • The form of Registration and a return envelope will be included in the above-mentioned handbook.
  • With your paper Registration form, you must also attach a current picture. This photo will be a component of your SAT Admission Ticket, and test center employees will use it to verify your identity on test day by matching it to your photo ID.
  • After filling up the form, send it back with a DD (demand draft)

Students with disabilities have particular accommodations and criteria for SAT registration. They have the option of requesting the following:

  • Extra and prolonged breaks are available.

  • Braille graphs; Braille test book
  • Audio test format MP3
  • Reader
  • Magnifying glass/machine
  • Calculator with four functions

7 Requirements

On exam day, a calculator and a No. 2 pencil aren't the only items you'll need. You'll also need a picture ID and your admittance ticket. 

Your admittance ticket will include your name and other identifying information. The photo you supplied while registration will be available on a photo roster to the Test Center Coordinator. The photo will be compared to your current look and your photo ID to ensure that it is the same person in the picture. 

You will not be allowed to take the test in the following circumstances - 

  • Your entry ticket's first and last names or any other information doesn't match the information on your photo ID.
  • The photo does not match your current look.
  • You made modifications to your registration after the deadline had passed.
  • You canceled your test registration before the scheduled test date.

8 Fees

The registration fee for the SAT exam is 25$

Other additional fees

  • Changing your exam center costs $25.
  • $25 if you cancel your registration before the change deadline.
  • If you cancel your registration after the change deadline but before test day, you will be charged $35.
  • $30 if you register after the normal deadline but before the late deadline.

When will the SAT results be released?

Within 20 days of taking the SAT exam, the results are available. They're available on the College Board's website, and you can select whether to get them through email or in hard form.
