The university takes pride in its history dating back to 1870, and it is among the oldest private institutions in the United States. Syracuse University has come a long way from a typical liberal arts college to an internationally recognized research university. Syracuse University spreads across a 270-acre campus comprising several great architectural designs, libraries, and other extensive facilities. North Campus is the university's main campus that accommodates over 70% of the student population. The second campus is known as the South Campus. It has research and educational centers in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC. The Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Building, which opened in the Spring of 2020, is home to the National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC) at the University and is conceived as a class-leading exemplar of academic, government, and community collaboration.
