About
The program focuses on the life, culture, political and social organization of persons of African descent. The central component of the program are the studies of Africa, North America, and the Caribbean. Students will be trained to apply a multidisciplinary approach to the study of the international and domestic divisions of race as they pertain to persons of African descent. The approach is to be employed for the study and understanding of development and underdevelopment, domination and power, self-determination, mutual cooperation, and aesthetic and creative expression. Issues of identity construction, marginality, territoriality and the universal role of race in the organization of political economy and in-class formation are critical to the program’s intellectual agenda.

University of California - Admission Procedure university of californiastudy in us
The admission requirements will differ depending on whether you are seeking admission as an in-state, out-of-state, or international applicant.
After meeting the program and GPA requirements, you must take the SAT or ACT exam. You also have to submit Personal Insight Questions for your application. The essays are the only chance the admissions committee has to understand your personality, so take a lot of time on these essays. Letters of Recommendation are probably one of the important components of the application. Make sure you get extremely strong recommendations. Strong recommendations can make a huge difference.
With all that, good luck with your college applications!
