Scholarship Eligibility

  • All students enrolled in a thesis-based graduate degree program
  • Applicants must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (a minimum of 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree
  • A completed four-year baccalaureate degree in Communications Studies, Culture Studies or related field (For MA in Communication and Media Studies)
  • A four year BEng or BSc degree in Science, Medicine, Kinesiology, or other Engineering from a recognized institution (For MS in Civil Engineering)
  • English language requirement:
    • TOEFL – overall score of 86, with no section less than 20
    • IELTS – overall score of 6.5, with no section less than 6.0
  • A Graduate Program Director may exempt an applicant whose first language is not English from the ELP requirement if they meet the following criteria:
    • The student has completed one of the following degrees in an institution where the sole language of instruction and examination is English:
      • a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 3 years in length), or
      • a Graduate Degree
  • Eligible institutions must be listed as providing English language instruction in the World Higher Education Database (WHED)
