Scholarship Overview

The University of Essex offers the Essex Pathways Bursary to eligible students. This bursary is designed for those who obtained a 1st or a 2.1 class degree in year 0 and carried on to seek further education in ‘year 1’ at the University of Essex. The bursary can go as high as £1,500.

Scholarship amount details

  • Max scholarship per student: GBP 1500
  • Conversion rate used: 1 GBP = Rs. 109.26
  • Scholarship amount will be given: One Time
  • Payment will be made during the first year of study in 2024-25 only
  • Payment will be made in two instalments, usually in February and May, by bank transfer. You must open a UK bank account and they will contact you by email before each payment date to request that you enter your bank details into My Essex so payment can be made
  • Students must be registered and meet the conditions to receive payment. If you intermit from your course, you may, at the discretion of the University, be entitled to a pro-rata payment of the remainder of your award on your return to study. Please contact the Funding Team for further information
  • Please note that if their records show that you are in debt to the University when an award payment is due, the payment will be offset against your student account in the first instance, and you will be entitled to receive any balance

Additional Information
The following students are NOT eligible for this scholarship regardless of meeting the criteria:

  • Students studying online distance learning courses.
  • Students transferring in from year 0 from another UK higher education institution
  • Students repeating Year 1 of a full-time undergraduate degree course leading to the award of a, Bachelor’s Degree, Integrated Masters (four years), starting in October 2024-25.
  • This Bursary award does not apply to deferred entry. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry to the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Must have completed year 0 at the University of Essex during academic year 2023-24.
  • Achieved a 1st or 2.1 in year 0.
  • Register for your first year of study for a full-time undergraduate degree course, leading to the award of a, Bachelor’s Degree, Integrated Masters (four years), starting in October 2024-25.
  • Students who achieve a 1st in year 0 will receive £1,500.
  • Students who achieve a 2.1 in year 0 will receive £1,000.
  • This bursary is available for the first year of study in 2024-25 only.
  • This bursary may be held in conjunction with other University awards.
  • Successful applicants should be available for promotional activities.
