The Felix Scholarship enables outstanding students from India to pursue graduate studies in any subject at the University of Oxford, the University of Reading and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS). Felix has been supporting students at Oxford since 1991. The scholarships are administered by the three partner universities, with the support of the Felix Trustees.

Appication Process for this scholarship

  • SOP: Applicants need to submit 1-page length statement of purpose
  • This will be assessed for:
    • applicants reasons for applying
    • evidence of motivation for and understanding of the proposed area of study
    • commitment to the subject, beyond the requirements of the degree course
    • capacity for sustained and intense work
    • reasoning ability
    • ability to absorb new ideas, often presented abstractly, at a rapid pace
  • LOR: Applicants need to submit 3 academic references
  • Official transcripts: It should give detailed information of the individual grades received in university-level qualifications to date
  • CV: Comprising of one to two pages highlighting applicants academic achievements and any relevant professional experience
  • Applicants must submit solutions to the MSc in Mathematics and Computational Finance admissions exercise(this will be assessed for whether your mathematical background is adequate, particularly in calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and partial differential equations)
  • Applicants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire before being invited for interview in India. There is no questionnaire or interview for the non-Indian scholarship

Additional Information:

  • One award is made each year to a non-Indian student who is a national and ordinarily resident in a country (outside of India) which categorised by the World Bank as being low income
  • In addition, for the non-Indian scholarship, the following eligibility criteria apply:
    • Applicant should have a first-class undergraduate or master’s degree;
    • Applicants must not already hold a degree from a university outside of their home country (this rule does not apply to study undertaken whilst in receipt of a Felix Scholarship); and
    • Applicants are expected to return to your home county after completing their studies

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a national and ordinarily resident in India
  • Applicants must not have previously studied a course at the same level as the course to which they are applying
  • Applicant must be unable to take up your place at Oxford without financial assistance
  • Applicants must have a first-class undergraduate or master’s degree from an Indian university
  • IELTS: 7.5 with min score of 7.0 in each component
  • Interview: Technical interviews are normally held as part of the admissions process. The interview could take place face-to-face or by Skype. Another interview is conducted for scholarship
  • Applicants with a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognised institution, where the medium of instruction and assessment was entirely in English, can be exempted from the English proficiency exam at the discretion of the University

Special Restrictions: Intend/plan to return to home country after course completion. Applicants are expected to return to India after completing their studies
