Scholarship Overview
University of Cincinnati’s Graduate Incentive Award (GIA) is a type of funding that the university provides students pursuing a graduate degree to those who are ineligible for a Graduate Assistant Scholarship (GAS). College of Arts and Sciences (A&S) operates on a limited GIA budget. This budget will not increase when tuition is raised. A&S will have to operate under the budget limit and at the same time, make the most use of what budget is there. Graduate enrollment and tuition fee revenue must be supplemented with the use of GIA funds. A&S provides GIA funding for our fellows and interns. For example, tuition fees ranging from 90% to 10% towards the education costs can cover these scholarships but at least some degree of fee revenue, 10% or more, must be realized from tuition fees. GIA scholarships to students who receive little or no financial support will need to bring in higher tuition revenues.
