Scholarship Overview

The Mork Family Scholars Program was announced in 2011 when USC received $110 million – the single largest gift in the university’s history for undergraduate scholarships – from USC supporters and devoted philanthropists Julie and John Mork.
The gift provides support in perpetuity for the university’s most precious asset: its extraordinarily diverse, talented and ever more accomplished undergraduate student body.

Appication Process for this scholarship

  • Letter(s) of Recommendation: One letter is required from either the school counselor or a teacher from the school
  • Essay: Applicants are required to submit essays and Short Answer questions
  • Official copies of academic records from all secondary or senior secondary schools, pre-university programs, and colleges and universities attended
  • Applicants should have:
    • Have all academics records sent directly from the schools (whenever possible)
    • Submit all academic records in the native language, accompanied by an English translation, if the native language is not English
  • Proof of the ability to pay tuition and living expenses for the first academic year
  • School Report
  • Submit the fall grades (when available): Use the Mid-Year Report Form
  • Submit a completed 2021 Common Application and USC Writing Supplement with required materials by December 1
  • Students will receive notification of their status in February
  • Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by the Office of Admission in February

Scholarship Application:
Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship when they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. No separate application is needed.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicants must have passed High School
  • Applicants are expected to have studied a rigorous high school curriculum in English, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language, and the arts
  • In addition to academic criteria, candidates’ talent, perseverance, innovation, involvement, and leadership are considered
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • TOEFL: 100 with min 20 in each section
    • IELTS: 7
    • PTE: 68
  • Interview: An interview is required for finalist candidates
  • After reflection and consideration, the university has extended USC’s test-optional policy for two more years First-year students may apply for admission and scholarships to USC for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 Academic Years without submitting SAT or ACT scores—though they may still submit them if they wish
