Scholarship Overview

University of Waterloo’s Norman Esch Graduate Scholarship will be awarded annually to full-time postgraduate students enrolled in a Master of Business program. Entrepreneurship and Technology of the Faculty of Engineering Recipients must demonstrate academic excellence and have a strong entrepreneurial vision with a business idea that has the potential to become a successful business. Preference will be given to students actively engaged in technology/engineering ventures. Decisions will be made in the spring semester based on information gathered during the admissions process. This fund is made possible through a grant from the Esch Foundation.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria

  • Program Enrollment: Full-time graduate students registered in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (MBET) Program in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Academic Excellence: Demonstrated academic excellence is required.
  • Entrepreneurial Outlook: Candidates should possess a strong entrepreneurial outlook.
  • Selection Basis: Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a faculty panel based on:
    • Passion for entrepreneurship
    • Record of academic achievement as shown in the admission application
  • Specific Qualifications: Awards will be given to students:
    • With an undergraduate degree in Engineering
    • Who are actively working on a technology or engineering-based venture
  • Selection Timing: A committee within the MBET program will identify candidates and select recipients each spring for Fall admission.
