Scholarship Overview

This is a Merit Based Scholarship, which is provided to only maximum number of students, depending on the University student. President’s Scholarship of Distinction are valued at CAD 2000 for maximum number of students, depending on the University student who qualify from University of Waterloo. Also, the President’s Scholarship of Distinction is a one time tuition reducing scholarship, offered in the first year of Bachelors Degree only. Applications for President’s Scholarship of Distinction at University of Waterloo are filed separately.

Scholarship amount details

Students will be awarded scholarship valued at $2,000.
Two other awards International Experience Award and/or Research Award are available for $1500 each.
These awards are available in the upper years if students choose to claim them and if they complete their first year with at least an 80% average.
International Experience Award will be awarded to Distinction Scholars who participate in an international study or work experience.
Research Award will be awarded to Distinction Scholars for an on-campus research position with a Waterloo professor or for a research-based co-op position with the University.
Conversion rate used: 1 CAD = Rs. 59.91

Additional Information

  • To receive the full value of the scholarship, a student must remain enrolled in full-time degree studies at Waterloo for the full 4-month fall term.
  • If a student qualifies for the scholarship, they will receive scholarship information with the Offer of Admission in Quest.
  • If a student receives a scholarship before May, they must meet all the conditions specified.
  • Once the university reviews grades available in early May, they will confirm the University of Waterloo President’s Scholarship.
  • If a student receives the scholarship offer in May, the university will already have reviewed grades available in early May.
  • A student must still meet all other conditions specified.
  • In late July, the student will receive an email with information about how to use the award to help pay tuition and fees.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Students’ early May admission average, including required courses, must be 95% or higher for the program.
  • Students must be enrolled at Waterloo in full-time degree studies for the entire September to December term.
  • A student must accept the Offer of Admission by the date specified on the offer.
