Scholarship Overview

The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship is offered through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship enhances students’ schooling and anti-fraud career paths. Additionally, it helps their anti-fraud interests by imparting a full year of ACFE membership. The scholarship program was set up in 1992 to provide possibilities for college students who had validated achievement in fraud-related studies. In 1998, the scholarship was renamed the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship in honor of ACFE individuals Larry Jennings, CFE, and Tracy Ritchie, CFE. Both guys were among 5 people fatally wounded during terrorist assaults in Karachi, Pakistan, on November 14, 1997.

Appication Process for this scholarship

To APPLY, qualified applicants must:

  • Complete the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship application
  • Upload Official Transcript(s) showing all completed college or university courses
  • Have two recommenders who know you on a professional level submit a letter on their behalf*
  • During the application process, you will provide information on your two recommenders. These individuals will receive a link to upload their professional recommendation forms on your behalf.
  • They highly recommend that you seek recommendations from individuals familiar with your fraud-related education, activities, interests, goals, and career path such as an employer or professor. At least one recommendation is preferred to be from a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

  • Overall academic achievement demonstrated by transcripts.

Scholarship Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • Be enrolled through the 2025-2026 academic year in an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Have a declared major or minor in accounting, business administration, finance, criminal justice or similiar fraud-related discipline.
  • Undergraduate students must be enrolled 9 semester hours (or equivalent) per term and be a junior, senior, or at least in the second half of their sophmore year when they apply.
  • Graduate students must be enrolled 6 semester hours (or equivalent) per term.
  • Demonstrate a desire to pursue an anti-fraud career path.

The following individuals are not eligible to apply:

  • Past scholarship award recipients
  • High school students (including seniors)
  • Junior college or community college students
  • College or university students graduating in 2025 (students must be enrolled through 2026)
  • ACFE Chapter officers or directors
