It is administered by ETS, or the Educational Testing Service, and is recognized by many institutions and colleges throughout the world. GRE scores are accepted by business schools, institutions, fellowship sponsors, and law schools all over the world.

In India, an Aadhar card will be accepted as part of a candidate’s temporary ID proof on the day of the exam in case they do not have their original valid passports.. This was announced by ETS on July 1, 2021

Due to the pandemic, across India, students have not received their passports and thus, ETS has allowed the use of Aadhar card as temporary proof of identification.

1 Eligibility

There is no academic eligibility For GRE mentioned by ETS (Educational Testing Services) but the candidates must have a bachelor's degree or an undergraduate course certificate. The GRE entry requirements vary depending on the institute or university to which the candidate is applying.

While registering for the GRE, test takers must have a valid passport. An original valid passport will be checked at the test center as proof of identity. Note that applicants will be allowed to register for the GRE using their Aadhar card. This is effective from July 1, 2021, onwards. Aadhar card can also be used as proof of identification in case a student does not have a valid original passport.

2 Syllabus

Applicants who want to pursue a graduate degree in another country must first appear for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). To begin, aspirants must have a strong understanding of the most recent GRE syllabus.

Types of GRE Test

  • GRE General Test
  • GRE Subject Test

5 Exam Dates

6 Results & Score

  • The Quantitative Reasoning score is reported on a scale of 130–170 with 1-point increments.

However, the official GRE results will be available 10–15 days from the date of your test. The official score report will be sent via ETS to four universities that you choose on the day of the exam.

7 Registration

Now students can also appear for the GRE in the comfort of their homes. ETS (Educational Testing Service) has introduced this facility due to the pandemic. Note that applicants will be allowed to register for the GRE using their Aadhar card. You can register on the ETS website, by mail, or over the phone. You must meet the requirements, pick the 'at-home' option while selecting the test facility choice, and pay the costs to register for the GRE at home. GRE Subject Tests happen three times a year.
