TOEFL Exam 2022: Fees, Registration, Syllabus, Results & Scores

Students would be required to submit English proficiency scores as part of their application to universities abroad.

Students must first register for the TOEFL test and then submit their results.

The TOEFL enrollment process is simple, and applicants can take the exam at any time throughout the year.

However, candidates can only postpone their next effort three days after their first attempt.

1 TOEFL registration process

To successfully register for the TOEFL test please follow the below-mentioned steps.

  • Go to the Official Website
  • Create your TOEFL candidate profile
  • Submit the TOEFL application form
  • Select the TOEFL exam date and your TOEFL test center or apply for TOEFL at Home
  • Pay the TOEFL registration fee (US $185)
  • Confirm and submit the application form
  • Take a printout of your TOEFL confirmation page for future reference.

2 The Registration process in detail.

Step 1: Go to the official ETS website, and either register a new account or log in to your existing account.

Step 2: Thereafter, candidates would have to properly complete their TOEFL candidate profile. They would be expected to provide all the information that could be useful throughout the admissions process or when their TOEFL scores will be sent.


Step 3: Candidates then have to select the most convenient TOEFL Exam Date for themselves.


Step 4: Candidates can then choose a convenient Test Center or apply for the TOEFL at a Home version of the test, which was just established.


Step 5: After selecting a Test Date and Exam Center, the applicant will be routed to the exam payment gateway page. Then pay the TOEFL registration fee of  $185. Candidates should double-check the examination credentials in this section. Any Changes after the payment will be charged additionally.


Step 6: After you've made your payment. Candidates will have submitted their TOEFL application form successfully. The acknowledgement receipt can be printed by candidates. They'd have access to it on their account dashboard as well, for reference purposes.  

3 Other ways to register for the TOEFL test

ETS has introduced various options for registering for the TOEFL exam in an effort to make it as inclusive and accessible as feasible. Candidates can now register for their TOEFL test in a variety of ways, in addition to online.

In-person Registration

Applicants in and around the New Delhi NCR region can register for the TOEFL test in person at the TOEFL Resource Center, which is located at the location below.

Mail-in Registration

You can get the form from the official website and mail it along with the exam costs to the above-mentioned address. Please ensure that your name on the form is spelt precisely as it appears on your id proof and that you submit your form at least one month prior to the scheduled exam date.

Registration by Phone

Candidates now have the option of registering via phone by calling the Regional Registration Center on the number – 91-124-4147700. You can make your payment of fees through a debit or credit card, usual registration closes 7 days prior to the scheduled date and anything later that you have to pay late fee charges.

4 Registration Fees

The registration fee for the TOEFL test is US $185 for applicants applying for slots from India.

5 Cancellation/Rescheduling Fee

Applicants who've already scheduled a TOEFL test but want to cancel or reschedule it must do so at least four full days before the scheduled examination date. It is also not allowed to reschedule TOEFL tests through email or at the test centre. To reschedule, applicants must phone their Regional Registration Centre (India – 91-124-4147700) and provide their full name and appointment number. Applicants also can reschedule their forthcoming tests by logging onto their ETS account online. There is an additional fee of US$60 in case you reschedule the tests.

6 Registration Dates

The test dates for the TOEFL exam are subject to change, however, the examination is normally held every Saturday and Sunday at the test centers.  Ideally, the Candidates should schedule their  TOEFL test at least 30 to 45 days before their application deadline.

Applicants should know that they can take the TOEFL test as many times as they desire as long as there is a 3-day break between each test. Even if you have cancelled your test earlier.
