About

The course equips students with the skills necessary to build their careers and fulfill their destinies. In the program, students will gain hands-on experience in high-angle rescue, first aid, hazardous incident identification and response, and more. students will be trained in the field and at the university's state-of-the-art facilities under real-life conditions. The courses are taught by full-time, certified faculty and part-time Fire Service personnel. They start students at the most basic level and progressively advance students through all requirements of the Level I and II National Fire Protection Association's Professional Standard.

Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates for admission to the Technical Certificate - Bridge Watch Program must have completed, at a minimum, a High School diploma; a grade 11 Public Examination Matriculation Certificate; a Level III Adult Basic Education (ABE) Certificate; or other qualifications judged by the Marine Institute to be high school equivalent. Proof of physical fitness must be provided by way of a signed Seafarer’s medical. As well, candidates must submit a clear Certificate of Conduct (a certified criminal record check).
