York University is a renowned public research university in Toronto, Ontario. York was established in 1959 by the "York University Act" passed by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was a non-denominational institution consisting of the Keele campus and Glendon College. The university moved to its present location in 1965 when it was renamed York University Act.
