The Humboldt University of Berlin was founded in 1810 as the world's prominent university for natural sciences in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Professors at the university, including Albert Einstein, have been tied to key achievements in physics and other fields. Situated in Berlin, Germany, the main campus of the Humboldt University of Berlin is the Unter den Linden campus. Campus Mitte, Campus Nord, and Campus Adlershof are the three campuses that make up the university. All the humanities institutions, as well as the Departments of Law and Business and Economics, are centred around the main building. Campus Nord, located north of the main building and adjacent to Berlin Hauptbahnhof, entails the life science departments, which include the University Medical Center, and Charité. The Humboldt University of Berlin includes nine faculties, including a medical school that is shared with the Free University of Berlin and provides degree programs in 189 disciplines from undergraduate to post-doctoral levels. Albert Einstein, Friedrich Engels, Georg Wilhelm, Angela Davis, Friedrich Hegel, Otto von Bismarck, Max Weber, Karl Liebknecht, Ernst Cassirer, Heinrich Heine, Karl Marx, Walter Benjamin, and the Brothers Grimm are among the university's notable alumni.
