Cardiff Metropolitan University is situated in the city of Cardiff, Wales. It was established as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire in 1865 to provide higher education and skills training opportunities to people living in South Wales.The broader role of the college was to provide a more accessible higher education than had been possible before. Later it became one of just three Welsh universities – alongside Aberystwyth and Swansea Universities – founded by the Act of Parliament.
Cardiff Met operates on three campuses: the Cyncoed Campus, the Plas Gwyn Residential Campus, and the Llandaff Campus.
