Throughout the course develop an overview of the agricultural systems involved with the production of food and the agricultural supply industry. Learn about livestock and crops as well as farm buildings and machinery. Also gain an understanding of the way agriculture relates to animal welfare, environmental and conservation issues. This is an on-farm work-based programme which develops skills and knowledge in agriculture. The programme will teach how to monitor and maintain health, safety and security as well as environmental good practice, and how to manage business performance to succeed in a competitive industry. Specialist units will teach how to prepare planting equipment and plant crops, monitor and maintain the provision of nutrients to crops and plan and manage the harvesting of crops.
