The University of Dundee is a public research university located in Dundee, Scotland. The University of Dundee traces its roots back to 1881 when it was established as University College, Dundee. Over the years, the institution has grown and evolved, becoming a university in its own right in 1967.

The University of Dundee is organized into ten Schools containing multiple disciplines, each with an associated research center. The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design is one of the UK’s top-rated art schools, while the University of Dundee School of Medicine is ranked in the top 5 in the UK. The University is also 1st in Scotland and 4th in the UK for Law, according to the Guardian University Guide 2020.

The University of Dundee has a compact campus that covers approximately 65 acres in the heart of Dundee - Scotland’s sunniest city and the first UNESCO City of Design in the UK. The campus features numerous buildings, including academic and research buildings, student housing, dining halls, and recreational facilities. The university has a vibrant student life, with over 150 student societies and a variety of cultural and social events.

The University of Dundee is a major research institution and is home to numerous research centers and institutes. These centers focus on a wide range of fields, including biomedicine, drug discovery, sustainability, and social sciences. As per the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (2014), 76% of the University of Dundee’s research work was described as ‘internationally renowned’ or as ‘ world-leading.’
