About

The University of Chester is the fifth oldest higher education establishment in England, with Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, and London outdating it. Established in 1839, the University of Chester was the first purpose-built teacher training college in the UK. The institution gained full university status in 2005.

There are seven study faculties at the university. The University of Chester is made up of colleges and universities such as the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Chester Business School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Children's Services, and Faculty of Health and Social Care.

Situated in Chester, UK, the University of Chester has six campuses and a University Center in Shrewsbury. The university also has several NHS sites across Cheshire and the Wirral.

The University of Chester has produced many notable alumni, including international rugby union player John Carleton, International footballer Jo Fletcher, children's author Roderick Hunt MBE, screenwriter Alan Bleasdale and politician Helen Jones.
