The degree program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career as an actuary or in other areas of industry dealing with risk management. The program is designed to prepare students to take the first two actuarial exams (Probability and Financial Mathematics) and has been approved by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) for Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) in all three areas of Mathematical Statistics, Economics, and Accounting and Finance.

The Anthropology major is a traditional approach to anthropology which includes an overview of the four-field perspective which includes cultural anthropology, linguistics, physical anthropology, and archeology. The major provides the student with a general understanding of the discipline of anthropology and focuses on the concept of culture as an overriding concept in understanding human nature and variability.
