Students who select a pre-nursing course of study are placed in both pre-nursing and Community Health Sciences (Public Health). Pre-nursing students will progress in the CHS program while completing the Core General Education requirements and nursing prerequisites. Students develop time-management and study skills and determine if they have the interest, aptitude, and skills required to pursue a career in nursing.

About

Occupational therapists enable people of all ages living with injury, illness, or disability to do the things they want and need to do. This is achieved through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations), with the focus on adapting the environment and/or task to fit the person. Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

This program prepares its students for entry-level positions in nuclear medicine technology, radiography, radiation therapy, or sonography. Graduates are employed at hospitals and clinics and participate in therapeutic procedures involving radiation and imaging or in the production of diagnostic images interpreted by a physician. Students greatly benefit from the diverse medical environment on the OUHSC campus, and the curriculum is designed to provide clinical as well as classroom instruction to produce graduates who are ready for careers in nuclear medicine, radiography, radiation therapy, or sonography.
