About

Established in 1885, the University of Arizona is situated in Tucson, Arizona. It is affiliated with two academic medical centers; University Medical Centre Tucson and University Medical Centre Phoenix. The west and east parts of campus are roughly divided by Highland Avenue and the Student Union Memorial Centre. A grassy track known as the Mall runs from Old Main eastward to the campus's eastern border at Campbell Avenue, separating the north and south sides.

The University of Arizona offers a large number of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The W.A. Franke Honors College at the University of Arizona offers programs for almost 4,500 students, creating a small community that feels like a liberal arts college within a huge academic school. It began in 1962 with seventy-five students and has since grown to a strength of over 4,500 students.

U.S. Representative Raul M. Grijalva, singer Linda Ronstadt, winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics (1989), Brian Schmidt, and softball star and Olympic gold medalist Jennie Finch are just a few of the university's noteworthy graduates.
