Worcester Polytechnic Institute is a private research university in Worcester, Massachusetts. The school was founded in 1865 and offered undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees across multiple fields. The institute is set up on a 95-acre, vibrant campus in Boynton Hill, which houses academic buildings, residences, parking spaces, and student support services.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has been ranked among the top universities for engineering degrees in the United States. It also became the first school to offer an integrated physics degree during the early 20th century. The institute uses the WPI Plan, which has been running since 1970.
