1 Types of PTE Exams

There are two types of PTE exams: PTE Academic and PTE General

PTE Academic

The PTE Academic exam is available year-round for individuals planning to study at a university or institution or move abroad. It includes 3 sections: Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking. The scores from the PTE Academic exam are valid for two years and evaluate candidates using various accents, including British, American, and non-native speakers.

PTE General

The PTE General exam is held three times a year, in May, June, and December. It consists of two parts: a spoken test and a written paper. Scores from the PTE General exam are valid for life and assess candidates' realistic communication skills.

2 PTE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025

To take the PTE Exam 2025, applicants must be at least 16 years old. However, if the candidate is under the age of 18, their parents or guardians must sign a consent form. They can get the consent form from the PTE Academic Exam's official website. There are no specific educational qualifications required to take the PTE Academic exam. Candidates can access their accounts and schedule their PTE Exam through the PTE login 2025 portal.

3 PTE Exam Syllabus 2025

Candidates who want to pursue the PTE Exam 2025 should be familiar with the most recent PTE Exam syllabus. 

The PTE Exam course is broken down into three sections:

PTE Speaking and Writing Section: The PTE Speaking & Writing section lasts 54–67 minutes and includes seven different question types.

4 PTE Exam format 2025

The PTE Academic exam assesses English language proficiency for study, work, or migration purposes. It consists of speaking and writing tasks (77-93 minutes), reading tasks (32-41 minutes), and listening tasks (45-57 minutes). Tasks include reading aloud, essay writing, summarising spoken text, and more.

5 PTE Exam Registration 2025

  • Candidates who want to register for the PTE exam 2025 through the PTE login 2025 portal must follow the processes outlined below to get a PTE exam seat. Candidates should know that they will require a valid ID.

  •  A valid Indian passport to book their slot for the PTE exam 2025 online.

PTE Exam Registration Steps

  • Select Test and Goal:

Visit the PTE Academic English test, choose the appropriate test, and specify your goal.

PTE Phone Registration: In addition to the preferred online method, candidates can register for the PTE Exam via phone. Indian students can contact the PTE Academic testing body by dialling 00080 0440 2020. The phone registration is available Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm local time, excluding local holidays.

8 PTE Exam Fee

The standard PTE Academic exam fee is Rs 18,000. If the candidate is booking his PTE exam within 48 hours of the PTE test date, the candidate would be required to pay a PTE Late Booking Fee.

PTE Exam Rescheduling Fees:

  • Before 7 Days: If you reschedule the test date more than 7 days before the originally booked date, a 25% extra fee will be applied.

  • Within 7 Days: If you reschedule within the same week of the booked test date, you will need to pay the full registration fee again.

9 PTE Results and Scores

  • PTE Exam results are available online through the PTE login 2025 within five business days of the exam day.

  • Scores are reported on a scale from 10 to 90, with increments of 1 point. 

  • The average score in PTE ranges between 51 and 60. 

  • Each section—Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening—contributes to the overall score, reflecting the candidate's proficiency in English language skills. 

  • You will receive an email with instructions about the process on how to access the PTE Exam results online within five business days. 

  • After that, log into your Pearson account by following the on-screen instructions through the PTE login 2025 portal. 

  • Using your Pearson account, you can share your PTE Exam results with the schools and universities of your choice.

  • Log in to your PTE account.

  • Click 'View Score Reports'.

  • Select 'Send Scores'.

PTE Score Validity

  • The PTE Academic score is valid for 2 years. After 2 years, the scores are automatically removed from the website.

  • In Australia, the PTE Academic score is valid for 3 years, allowing students or immigrants to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) within this period.

Double Checking by Human Experts: In the PTE exam, the scores received upon automated scoring for two of the PTE Speaking section questions, i.e. PTE Describe Image and Retell Lecture will now be double-checked by the human experts. However, this does not imply any change to the content and administration of the test. 

  4. Introduction of Smart Prep: Smart Prep section has been introduced in the My PTE account of the test takers. Test takers can access Smart Prep with or without booking a PTE test slot. The section comprises of both - the free and paid resources for preparation of the PTE exam at one place. 

  5. Discontinuation of the PTE Academic Online Exam: Test takers can now relax with their long-standing doubts - whether PTE Academic Online is available for their country and/or whether their desired university accepts it. The administrator of the PTE exam, the Pearson PLC Group has now removed the PTE Academic Online exam.
