The Community Engagement Internship recognizes and rewards Australian Catholic University college students who exhibit a dedication to ongoing improvement in their knowledge and capabilities in community engagement. Community engagement interns take on a large commitment to serving the network and operating in network engagement applications. The scholar intern might be primarily based at the Strathfield campus and serve community imperatives in Western Sydney.

  • Written statement of approximately 300 words outlining: your commitment to community service and how this relates to ACU’s Mission
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic in support of your statement
  • Letter of recommendation from a community leader in support of your statement

Additional Information

To remain eligible for scholarship payments, recipients are required to maintain the following:

  • Enrollment in the same course under which the scholarship was awarded
  • Minimum grade point average of at least 5.0 (credit) in each semester
  • Participation in a minimum of 100 hours of community engagement practicum per year with ACU Engagement (may include internally-focused engagement activities)
  • Participation in a minimum of 100 hours of approved community engagement activity per year with community partners of ACU Engagement
  • Attend quarterly workshops focused on topics related to community engagement
  • Electronic portfolio that displays their progress and achievements throughout their time in the CES Program
  • Regular contact with their ACU Engagement mentor

 

Scholarship Eligibility

 

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Course: any ACU undergraduate degree
  • Campus: North Sydney, Strathfield or Blacktown
  • Year level: second year or above (as of Semester 1, 2025)
  • Contributions made to community service and ACU’s Mission
