Appication Process for this scholarship

The 2025 Competition opens on July 1, 2024. To apply, you will need to:

  1. Receive a nomination from your school:High schools not already contacted/verified are asked to submit an application to participate in our program, High schools that have participated in a previous year will receive their nomination access starting July 1, 2024.
  2. Apply to study at the University of Toronto:You must apply by October 18, 2024, in order to begin your studies in September 2025. Please be advised that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for your first choice of program at U of T. You may apply for several programs and may receive admission to them all; however, the Pearson Scholarship, if awarded to you, would be restricted to your first choice of program at U of T at the time our scholarship decisions are made.
  3. Complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application:Once we’ve received a nomination and you’ve applied to the university, you can complete the online scholarship application by November 8, 2024. You will receive a private link to the scholarship application when you are successfully nominated by your school.
  4. Submit all necessary documentation:All documentation must be submitted online by November 8, 2024.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • International Student: You must be a non-Canadian student. This means you should not be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Current Secondary School Student: You should be currently enrolled in your final year of secondary school or have graduated in the previous academic year.
  • School Nomination: You must be nominated by your school. Only students who have received a nomination can apply for the scholarship.
  • Academic Excellence: Strong academic performance is required. This typically includes high grades in your secondary school courses.
  • Leadership Skills: The scholarship is looking for students who demonstrate leadership abilities and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
  • Admission to University of Toronto: You must apply and be accepted to the University of Toronto for an undergraduate program (including Bachelor of Computer Science) in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Scholarship Restriction:

  • Non-Canadian Citizens: The scholarship is specifically for international students. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible.
  • Only for Undergraduate Programs: The scholarship is only applicable for undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. It does not extend to graduate or professional programs.
  • School Nomination Required: You must be nominated by your secondary school. Students who do not have a nomination cannot apply for the scholarship.
  • Limited Number of Awards: Approximately 37 scholarships are awarded each year, making it a competitive program.
