Appication Process for this scholarship

  • SOP: Statement of Purpose is required and should contain the following:
    • Your motivation for wishing to undertake this specific programme of study, at GCU in particular, and how you have learned more about this programme
    • What interests you about your chosen programme’s content, and what makes it the most suitable one for you to undertake
    • Was there a particular factor in your choice of institution, such as the local area, the reputation of the Programme Team, placement opportunities, or similar
    • Your background, in relation to previous studies, employment or work experience, and why this programme represents an appropriate progression from what you have done before
    • Your plan upon graduation and how this programme will help you realistically achieve your goals and objectives
    • Why you wish to study in the UK, rather than undertake this programme in your home country
    • It should be clearly structured, not copied and well-written, around one side of A4 should generally suffice
  • LOR:
    • Letters of reference should be provided on company/institution headed paper and signed by the referee, photocopies of these are fine
    • Academic references should be provided by a current or previous tutor from your most recent studies These should outline your suitability for the programme applied for, with some evidence possibly in relation to your academic abilities, personal qualities or career aspirations
    • Employment references should be provided by a current or previous supervisor or line manager from your most recent employment or work experience
    • Letters of Reference should not be provided by a friend or family member

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicant must be self-funded
  • Applicants must have any one of the following in food science or technology/biological sciences:
    • 4-year Bachelor’s degree (50% minimum; second class average over programme duration); or
    • 3-year Bachelor’s degree (60% minimum; first-class average over programme duration)
  • IELTS: 60 (with no band less than 55) for other courses
  • PTE: 54 with no element less than 51
  • Applicants scoring 70% or higher marks in English in 12th are exempt from English language tests
  • Students will automatically receive the fee discount when you are offered a place on your chosen course, and at the time of invoicing for each subsequent year of your degree if you meet the criteria above
