Established in 1964, Trent University is known for its Oxbridge college system, where class sizes are small, and each college complex has student rooms, common areas, and offices for staff members. The university offers different programs in science and arts and is funded by the Canadian government. It offers degrees in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Computing & Information Systems, Accounting, African studies, Arts and Science, and Archaeology. Aspirants will also find several thesis-based and course-based master's programs, apart from Ph.D and graduate diploma courses at the university.

Trent University's main campus is situated in Peterborough, Canada. It is home to Champlain College, Lady Eaton College, Bata Library, and the Faryon bridge, all designed by the famous Canadian architect Ron Thom. 

The university has produced many notable alumni, including John Horgan, Premier of British Columbia; Chris Hodgson, Ex-Ontario Government Cabinet Minister; Stewart Wheeler, Ambassador to Iceland; Tim Cook, Historian; Nancy Anne Sakovich, Model and actress; James Orbinski, Doctors without Borders, Nobel Prize Winner; and Richard Harrison, Poet.
