About

Altai State Medical University was opened in 1954 thanks to the development of virgin and fallow lands in Western Siberia and Kazakhstan. A large number of “first virgin lands”, mostly young people, arrived in the virgin lands. The problem of medical personnel has become acute. Its solution was possible only if it had its own medical institute. The resolution on its opening was adopted on August 7, 1954, by the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
