Texas Tech University is a public research university located in Lubbock, Texas. Established in 1923, as Texas Technological College, with a focus on engineering and agriculture. Over the years, the university has expanded to include a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs across numerous colleges. The university’s official motto is “From here, it’s possible.”

Texas Tech University is organized into ten academic colleges, and two schools, each with a different focus. These colleges include the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the Rawls College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Engineering, the Honors College, the College of Human Sciences, the College of Arts and Sciences, the J.T. and Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts, the School of Law, and the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business.

Texas Tech University has a sprawling campus that covers over 1,800 acres in the city of Lubbock and boasts Spanish Renaissance architecture throughout the expanse in all its architecture. The campus features numerous buildings, including academic and research buildings, student housing, dining halls, and recreational facilities. The university has a vibrant student life, with over 500 student organizations and a variety of cultural and social events.

Texas Tech University is a major research institution and is home to numerous research centers and institutes. These centers focus on a wide range of fields, including agriculture, energy, and health sciences. The university is among 120 universities and colleges in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education’s ‘Highest Research Activity’ category.

The university has a comprehensive alumni list, which includes some popular names like Rachel Caine (Author), John Fincher (Artist), Grace Halsell (Famous writer), Douglas Moss (Renowned architect), Ruben Quesada (poet), Jodi Thomas (Author), and Edward Whitacre (General Motors' Chairman).
