It is essential to check the academic and English language criteria before applying to the university of your preference. Inquire about your institution's application criteria and deadlines on their website, as they vary for each university. International students typically apply to Australian universities directly, either by mail or online.

Table of Contents

1 Information

The majority of scholarship application forms ask for the following information:

  • your personal information

  • Proof of your English language competence, certified

  • academic transcripts, and other facts about your past academic credentials

  • an overview of your work experience.

A non-refundable application fee of roughly AUD 50 to 100 is charged by most universities and must be included with your scholarship application. If you apply online, certain universities will forgo the charge. If you are not sure about how to continue at any point during the application process, it is suggested to contact the university you're applying to for assistance.

Your scholarship application will be evaluated after the institution receives it, and you will be notified of the outcome. Your application may take a few weeks to process.

2 Australia awards

The Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS) is the website for applying to the Australia Awards Scholarships initiative. Typically, the application period runs from February through May.

Applying for an Australia Awards Scholarship is a competitive procedure, as expected. The specific criteria vary by nation, but you'll almost always need to submit copies of the following papers throughout the scholarship application process:

  • Birth certificate and passport

  • Certificate of Bachelor's Degree

  • CV with academic transcripts

  • 500-word personal statement outlining why you should be awarded the prize

  • References from academia and the workplace

  • a passport-sized photograph

  • Proof of linguistic competency in English (usually the equivalent of IELTS 6.5)

You'll also have to submit a plan outlining how you plan to apply the skills and information you gained in Australia when you return home.

Shortlisted applications will be called to an interview. You will be asked to talk to a panel about your country's priority areas, your planned Master's program, and your reintegration strategy.

3 Destination Australia

The application procedure differs depending on the university you want to attend. Some universities will automatically consider you for a Destination Australia scholarship. In contrast, others may ask you to submit a brief personal statement describing why you want to study in rural Australia.

For a Master's program, the procedure begins in February; the deadline is generally around mid-January.

4 Research Training program scholarships

The scholarship application procedure varies depending on the university.

Before making a decision, the institution will evaluate your RTP scholarship application based on a set of criteria such as academic background, research plan, professional experience, publications, and more.

5 Macquarie University Scholarships

Applicants must meet Macquarie University's academic and English language standards.

Only one Indian student is selected for this scholarship program each year.

The recipient's scholarship value is AUD 10,000 per year (6,826 USD per year).

Shortlisting is done based on the entrance application; thus, no separate scholarship application is necessary.

Applicants and winners need to know that this is a tuition fee waiver program and does not cover additional costs such as transportation or lodging in Australia.

However, candidates need to submit their admission applications before the deadline.
