The program consists of eleven courses designed to prepare individuals to enter the field of substance abuse counseling at a professional level. All courses provide extension credit or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for nurses and teachers if needed. The program provides students with the educational and practical requirements for becoming a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). The practicum courses provide on-the-job training in a variety of settings. Six courses in the certificate may transfer into the core curriculum of the Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Program.
