Indiana University was established in 1820 and is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. A multicampus public research institution situated in Bloomington, USA, it has 2 core campuses, 5 regional campuses, and 2 regional centres under the administration of IUPUI. Currently, the university is home to over 110,000 students. The university was the first in the United States to form an African American fraternity, Alpha Kappa Nu, in 1903.

Indiana University Bloomington (IU Bloomington) is the university's flagship campus. IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) is Indiana's urban research and academic health sciences campus, a joint venture between Indiana and Purdue universities. The Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC) is a not-for-profit agency that assists IU faculty and researchers in realising the commercial potential of their discoveries.
