Additional Info
The University of Massachusetts was founded in 1863 under the Morrill Land-Grant Acts. The University began life in 1863 as the Massachusetts Agricultural College, with the curriculum consisting of modern farming, science, technical courses, and a smattering of the liberal arts. UMass Amherst, situated in Amherst, Massachusetts, sits on nearly 1,450 acres in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. The university has 5 campuses: the University of Amherst, the University of Massachusetts Boston, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the Massachusetts Medical School. UMass is one of the five members of the Five College Consortium. The other four colleges of the consortium are Smith College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, and Pioneer Valley. The Five College Interchange allows UMass students to enroll in classes at Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges, all nearby small liberal arts schools. The system’s faculty is extremely varied and includes Nobel Laureate Craig Mello at UMass’ medical school, who won the 2006 award for medicine, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism academic Madeleine Blais, and former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes from UMass Amherst, and novelist and National Book Award finalist Andre Dubus III, at UMass Lowell.

My counselor was Kunjal. I must appreciate her for all her efforts to make my case strong, guiding me, and answering all my silly questions. She prepared my case way before time and was supportive and available at any time. Grateful and glad I chose iSchoolConnect.
