Purdue University is a renowned public research university located in West Lafayette, Indiana. It was founded in 1869 and is affiliated with the U.S. state of Indiana and the Big Ten Conference. Purdue has served students at its main campus since 1869. Today it has over 70,000 students attending undergraduate and graduate programs on-site or online. The university is organized into thirteen colleges and schools that offer more than 200 undergraduate programs, 70 postgraduate programs, and vocational programs. The main campus is located in West Lafayette, Indiana, on a 1,000-acre site and serves approximately 49,000 students. It also operates several campuses statewide, serving an additional 13,000 students. Purdue University is among the 10% of U.S universities with an LGBTQ center. 

Purdue University is the most comprehensive higher education source in southwest Indiana. It has a vast alumni network of more than 4,50,000 people worldwide, including 20+ notable astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Eugene Cernan, and R. Games Slayter. Four scientists from Purdue University have won the Nobel prize - Herbert C. Brown (Chemistry, 1979), Ei-ichi Negishi (Chemistry, 2010), and Otto Doering with Kevin Gurney (Climate Change, 2007).

Purdue University is considered a moderately selective institution. The admissions process considers various factors, including academic performance, test scores, and extracurricular activities. Purdue certainly values academic success. However, a Purdue acceptance is absolutely achievable. The average SAT score required ranges from 1630 to 1950, and the average ACT score is between 25 and 31. In addition, 80% of admittees fell within the top quarter of their graduating class, with an average GPA between 3.5 and 4.0.

Purdue was the first university in the US to have a computer science program, which they started in the early 1960s. Purdue University is regarded as one of the best universities in the world. Not only for Computer Science but for nearly any major. In terms of CS, it is ranked #20 in the United States. Purdue's expertise is imparted through hands-on learning and application to the industry, implying that students will gain real-world experience while in college. This will assist them in acquiring high-paying jobs immediately after graduating, which is essentially the desire of most students.
Additionally, their bridge program is a two-week summer course that will help students speed up programming. They also have a great student support system. Companies like Cisco, Amazon, Microsoft and Google are always there. Employers regard the CS program as preparing students well for real-world programming environments.
