Appication Process for this scholarship

  • LOR: 2 Reference letters are recommended
    • Referees should be people who can comment on applicants’ general suitability to receive a Chevening Award
    • Referees should be known to the applicant, either in an academic or professional capacity
    • They should not be relatives or close personal friends
    • The reference should cover the following:
      • Your contact details: address, email address, and phone number
      • How long have you known the applicant?
      • In what capacity do you know the applicant? (eg professional, educational, supervisory, voluntary, religious, etc)
      • When did you last have regular contact with the applicant?
      • A brief overall endorsement of the applicant, including their:
        • Skills in leadership and networking
        • Personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities
        • Ability to complete a demanding academic program in the UK

Scholarship Eligibility

For MBA, applicants must have:

  • A four-year bachelor degree (BEng; BTech; MBBS) with a grade of 70% when awarded from a top institution
  • IELTS overall score of 75, with no element below 70
  • Three years’ work experience by the start of the intake they are applying for
  • Applicants must:
    • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
    • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK
    • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience The types of work experience include:
      • Full-time employment
      • Part-time employment
      • Voluntary work
      • Paid or unpaid internships
    • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses:
      • Applicants must choose full-time and,
      • Taught 1-year master’s (ie not research-focused MRes programs)
      • Start in the autumn term
      • Lead to a master’s degree qualification
      • Based in the UK
      • Have received an unconditional offer
  • Interview:
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview The interview will be in the city where the British Embassy or High Commission has a representation
    • The interview will be a competency-based panel assessment conducted in English
    • The interview panel will include representatives from the British embassy or high commission, who will use the global Chevening criteria to assess your answers
    • Applicants will be asked a series of questions discussing some of the information they provided in the application form
    • The panel will ask questions that will enable them to explain their personal and professional aspirations, and how Chevening can facilitate their achievement of these goals

Special Restrictions:
Applicant must return to his/her country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after the award has ended.
