Application Process:

  • Applications must be submitted online via the Chevening website: https://chevening.smartsimpleuk.com/s_Login.jsp
  • Applicants can choose 3 different UK universities to seek admission with the scholarship
  • All applicants who wish to be considered for an award at London School of Economics are encouraged to select their college as their first preference in their Chevening application

Scholarship Eligibility

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must not have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship
  • Applicant must have an undergraduate degree. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK
  • Applicants have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience
  • Applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline

Can I apply for a Chevening Scholarship if I have previously taken up an offer of a Chevening Fellowship?

If you have previously received UK Government funding through a Chevening Fellowship, you will only be eligible to apply for a Chevening Scholarship award after a period of five years following the completion of your Chevening Fellowship.

What education documents do I need to upload as part of my Chevening application?

Applicants can upload either their degree certificate or degree transcript, as long as it is an official document from your university that proves your degree and grade. We require the original documents which do not need to be translated into English.

Can I stay in the UK once my scholarship has ended?

Our terms and conditions require all scholars to return to their country/territory of award for a period of two years immediately following the completion of their award.

I need to request a change in my application to my name, date of birth, citizenship, or address. How do I do this?

If your query is regarding an issue that will not prevent you from submitting your application (e.g. a spelling error in your name, an incorrect date of birth, an incorrect country of residence), this may be dealt with after the application window has closed.
