Chevening Scholarships is awarded for pursuing MSc in Mathematical and Computational Finance at University of Oxford. Appication Process for this scholarship

  • LOR: 2 Reference letters are recommended
    • The referee should be people who can comment on the applicant’s general suitability to receive a Chevening Award
    • Referees should be known to the applicant, either in an academic or professional capacity
    • They should not be a relative or close personal friend
    • Reference should cover the following:
      • How long have you known the applicant?
      • In what capacity do you know the applicant? (eg, professional, educational, supervisory, voluntary, religious)
      • When you last had regular contact with the applicant
      • A brief overall endorsement of the applicant, including their:
        • Skills in leadership and networking
        • Personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities
        • Ability to complete a demanding academic programme in the UK

    • Applicants can choose 3 different UK universities to seek admission with the scholarship
    • All applicants who wish to be considered for an award at the University of Oxford are encouraged to select Oxford as their first preference in their Chevening application

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicant must not have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship
  • Applicant must have an undergraduate degree
    • This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK
  • IELTS: 75 with a minimum score of 70 in each section (as required by the university)
  • Work Experience: Minimum 2 years required
    • It can be:
      • Full-time employment
      • Part-time employment
      • Voluntary work
      • Paid or unpaid internships
    • Work experience can be completed before, during, or after graduating from undergraduate studies
  • Interview:
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview
    • The interview will be in the city where the British Embassy or High Commission has representation
    • The interview will be a competency-based panel assessment conducted in English
    • Applicants will be asked a series of questions discussing some of the information they provided in the application form
    • The panel will ask questions that will enable applicants to explain their personal and professional aspirations, and how Chevening can facilitate their achievement of these goals
    • Applicants’ course choices will also be discussed, and they will be asked to provide an update on their applications

Special Restrictions:
Applicant must return to his/her country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after the award has ended.
