Scholarship Overview

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship is awarded for pursuing MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University of Strathclyde. A student can get a maximum amount of GBP 36925 and the scholarship amount will be given one time only. The scholarship amount can be used for paying tuition, living, travel, airfare and others. The University will give preference to candidates who already hold a first degree with FIRST CLASS HONOURS (or equivalent). To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their 12th grade and also possess a Bachelor degree. Scholarship amount details

The total amount payout includes Tuition (£21,850) + Living expenses (£13,335) .
Approved airfare from the applicant’s home country to the UK and return at the end of the award.
Examination fees.
Warm Clothing Allowance .
A grant towards the expenses of preparing a dissertation, where applicable.
A grant for expenses for approved study travel within the UK or overseas.
Excess baggage allowance when returning home.
Reimbursement of the cost of mandatory tuberculosis (TB) test, where required for a visa application (receipts must be supplied) – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC.
Conversion rate used: 1 Pound = Rs. 104.90 (last updated 7th December 2023).

Scholarship Eligibility

  • To apply for this scholarship, students must:
    • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.
    • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
    • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in Sep/Oct 2021.
    • Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
    • The CSC would not normally fund a second UK Master’s degree.
    • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country (as classified by the World Bank).
    • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.
  • Preference will be given to the following candidates:
    • Applications will be considered according to the following selection criteria:
      • Academic merit of the candidate.
      • The potential impact of the study on the development of the candidate’s home country.

Special Restrictions: Must return to home country after course completion. Students will be required to sign an undertaking to return to their home country as soon as possible after the end of their award.
