Appication Process for this scholarship

Application process- Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 500 words outlining:
    • how community engagement supports the achievement of ACU’s mission
    • what you hope to achieve during your community engagement scholarship
    • what you can bring to ACU’s established community giving drives
    • Evidence of previous community engagement activities
  • Written recommendation from a member of ACU teaching staff (Previous scholarship recipients are encouraged to discuss re-applying with their ACU Engagement mentor, who can provide a written recommendation in lieu of ACU teaching staff)
  • Selection criteria- Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:
    • Written statement
    • Commitment to community engagement, community giving and the ACU mission

Additional Information:

  • Students will be required to carry out approximately 200 hours of various community engagement activities that have been agreed in partnership with ACU Engagement including supporting community organisations that students have a connection with, or are connected through ACU Engagement
  • Upon acceptance of scholarship a work plan will be devised in partnership with your ACU Engagement Mentor with whom you will maintain regular contact throughout your scholarship
  • Selection process- Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office and a recipient selected by a committee comprised of ACU Engagement staff

Scholarship Eligibility

This scholarship is open to students who meet all of the following criteria:

  • must be currently enrolled in any undergraduate program
  • must be in second year or above as of Semester 1, 2022
  • contribution to community service and ACU’s mission
  • Successful applicants will also be provided with:
    • an ACU Engagement mentor throughout their participation in the program
    • access to all ACU Engagement seminars, workshops and other community engagement learning opportunities
    • the opportunity to present on their learnings to community partners and senior ACU Staff at the end-of-year seminar
