Scholarship Overview

This scholarship is offered in the memory of Dr.
APJ Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India.
In recognition of his contribution to his profession, Dr.
Kalam was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2011.
It is initiated to celebrate his commitment to education, and his endeavors to support outstanding students to develop as future leaders.
The Scholarship will be awarded by the Associate Dean, Indigenous Strategy and Services, Faculty of Engineering, or their nominated delegate.

This scholarship is applicable for all the full-time undergraduate programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney Some of them include –

  • Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Mechatronic Engineering)

The value of the scholarship is 50% of the tuition fees for a maximum of one year.
The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

  • The application Start date: 28th September 2020
  • The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
    • Withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enroll,
    • Commences part-time study without prior approval,
    • Does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
    • Is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
    • Accepts an alternative tuition fee scholarship
  • In such circumstances, this scholarship will be terminated in favor of the alternative scholarship where the alternative scholarship is of higher value,
    • Does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
    • Any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination
    • Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to a University error
    • Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, or an international senior secondary qualification equivalent to an ATAR of at least 98
  • Applicants must be International students who have an unconditional offer of admission to any undergraduate program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney
  • Applicants must enroll full-time in the semester immediately following the award of this scholarship
  • Preference will be given to following candidates:
    • The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit based on the applicant’s performance in an Australian Year 12 qualification or an equivalent International senior secondary qualification
    • The Scholarship will be awarded by the Associate Dean, Indigenous Strategy and Services, Faculty of Engineering, or their nominated delegate
