Scholarship Overview

The Felix Scholarship enables outstanding students from India to pursue graduate studies in any subject at the University of Oxford, the University of Reading and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS). Felix has been supporting students at Oxford since 1991. The scholarships are administered by the three partner universities, with the support of the Felix Trustees. Scholarship amount details

The scholarship will cover 100% of course fees, a grant for living costs (around £17,800) and one return flight from India to the UK.
Conversion rate used: 1 Pound = Rs. 104.90 (last updated 7th December 2023).

Appication Process for this scholarship

  • LOR: Three recommendations are required (academic and/or professional)
  • Personal Statement: Upto 1000 words It will be assessed for:
    • Previous experience of psychological research
    • Motivation to pursue the topics covered by the MSc and to conduct independent research
    • Understanding of theoretical, methodological, and statistical issues
    • Appropriateness of career plans
    • Understanding of the aims and content of the course in relation to these career plans
  • CV: Comprising of one to two pages highlighting academic achievements and any relevant professional experience
  • Official Transcripts: Any transcript not in English should be accompanied by a certified translation
  • Applicants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire before being invited for interview in India
  • There is no questionnaire or interview for the non-Indian scholarship
  • You must apply by the January deadline for your course if you wish to be considered for the scholarship
  • One award is made each year to a non-Indian student who is a national and ordinarily resident in a country (outside of India) which categorized by the World Bank as being low income
  • In addition, for the non-Indian scholarship, the following eligibility criteria apply:
    • Applicant should have a first-class undergraduate or master’s degree
    • Applicants must not already hold a degree from a university outside of their home country (this rule does not apply to study undertaken whilst in receipt of a Felix Scholarship); and
    • Applicants are expected to return to your home county after completing their studies

  • One award is made each year to a non-Indian student who is a national and ordinarily resident in a country (outside of India) which is categorized by the World Bank as being low income
  • In addition, for the non-Indian scholarship, the following eligibility criteria apply:
    • Applicant should have a first-class undergraduate or master’s degree
    • Applicants must not already hold a degree from a university outside of their home country (this rule does not apply to study undertaken whilst in receipt of a Felix Scholarship)
    • Applicants are expected to return to their home country after completing their studies

 

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Applicant must be a national and ordinarily resident in India
    • Applicants must not have previously studied a course at the same level as the course to which they are applying
    • Applicant must be unable to take up your place at Oxford without financial assistance
    • Applicants must have a first-class undergraduate or master’s degree from an Indian university
  • English Proficiency:
    • IELTS: 75 with a minimum score of 70 in each component
    • Interviews are normally held as part of the admissions process
    • Interviews are usually held in late January or early February
    • Applicants shortlisted for an interview will be invited to Oxford, or if unable to attend, may be interviewed via Skype (with video)
    • Applicants with a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognized institution, where the medium of instruction and assessment was entirely in English can be exempted from the English proficiency exam at the discretion of the University

Applicants are expected to return to India after completing their studies.
