The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are designed for exceedingly prompted individuals who display super management characteristics, have completed the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s diploma, have at least 3 years professional working experience, and are devoted to return and make a contribution to their groups in India.
These fellowships are offered for up to two years to pursue a master’s degree at U.S. Colleges and universities in the regions of Economics; Environmental Science/Studies; Higher Education Administration; International Affairs; International Legal Studies; Journalism and Mass Communication; Public Administration; Public Health; Urban and Regional Planning; and Women’s Studies/Gender Studies.

The fellowship will provide the following benefits:

  • J-1 visa support
  • Round-trip economy class air travel from fellow’s home city to the host institution in the U.S
  • Funding for tuition and fees, living and related costs
  • Accident and sickness coverage per U.S. Government guidelines
  • USIEF funding may not cover all costs and the scholar may need to supplement grant benefits with other resources

Restrictions:

The Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships provide no financial support for dependents

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen and reside in India at the time of application.
  • Academic Qualification: You should have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized Indian university with at least 55% marks.
  • Applicants should have at least three years of full-time (paid) professional work experience relevant to their proposed field of study.
  • Leadership and Community Service: Demonstrated leadership qualities and community service experience are strongly considered.
  • Proficiency in English: You should have demonstrated English language proficiency to pursue studies in the U.S.
  • Not in the U.S.: Candidates who are already in the U.S. or holding a visa for the U.S. are not eligible.
  • Return to India: You should not have another degree from a U.S. university and should not have enrolled in a U.S. degree program at the time of application. You are required to return to India upon completion of the program to contribute to your community and the country.
