Scholarship Overview

Deepak Gupta MBA’93J and his wife Sunita have generously created an endowed scholarship fund targeted at students from emerging markets. Their objective is to help make human capacity in creating economic and social value in the most economically challenged regions of the world. Scholarships will be provided to distinguished candidates who hail from low-income backgrounds. Such a scholarship will allow INSEAD to continue attracting more diverse candidates into the MBA Programme. One or two major awards will be made in each class.

Appication Process for this scholarship

The Financial Need scholarships will be granted through the Financial Aid Application. Candidates must demonstrate and prove significant difficulty in raising sufficient finances for the INSEAD MBA Programme and may be limited in accessing loans. Priority will be given to candidates with a marked socio-economic disadvantage.

How they evaluate financial need: Scholarship Committee will determine financial need based on the following factors:

  • Gross and net income from the previous years
  • Liquid assets
  • Socio-economic background
  • Family contribution to education
  • Access to loans and the amount an applicant plans and is able to borrow

Supporting Documents:

Please submit the documents through the scholarship portal. You will find a relative link at the end of the application form, right after the essays. List of documents required:

1. Proof of salary (latest salary slip or a letter from your employer).
2. Bank statements for the last two months that will reflect your checking and savings accounts. Online overview is accepted. If you have multiple bank accounts, please combine your three months statement per bank account.
3. If you have extenuating/exceptional circumstances in the past year (supporting dependents’ education, medical care, bankruptcy, etc.), provide relevant documentation via email.

After the deadline, you will have an additional week to submit your supporting documents through the scholarship portal. Your own translation into English is accepted.

Scholarship Application Deadlines –

For the July 2026 Class:

  • Round 1: Applications open on 11 October 2024, with a deadline of 28 October 2024. Decision notifications will be sent by 27 November 2024.
  • Round 2: Applications open on 06 December 2024, and the deadline is 23 December 2024. Decisions will be announced by 04 February 2025.
  • Round 3: Applications open on 14 February 2025, with a deadline of 03 March 2025. Applicants will receive notifications by 01 April 2025.

For the December 2026 Class:

  • Round 1: Applications open on 11 April 2025, and the deadline is 28 April 2025. Decision notifications will be sent by 30 May 2025.
  • Round 2: Applications open on 23 May 2025, with a deadline of 09 June 2025. Decision notifications will be released by 18 July 2025.
  • Round 3: Applications open on 18 July 2025, and the deadline is 04 August 2025. Applicants will be notified of their decisions by 12 September 2025.
