Scholarship Overview

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships are open to international students who are citizens of Canada, China, Japan, Pakistan, India, and the USA. Moreover, the main aim of this scholarship is to encourage bright, talented, and hardworking individuals to live, work, and study in Scotland. Furthermore, the scheme awards students who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers, have wide-ranging interests outside their studies, and have a desire to broaden their personal and academic experience in Scotland

This scholarship is applicable for Masters Degree. This scholarship is applicable for all universities in UK. The course must be a postgraduate Masters level course in one of the following subject areas:

    • Science
    • Technology
    • Creative industries
    • Healthcare and medical sciences
    • Renewable and clean energy

Scholarship amount details

    • Max scholarship per student: Euro 8,000 => Rs 6,47,440
    • Conversion rate used: 1 Euro = Rs. 87.86
    • Scholarship amount will be given: One Time
    • The scheme offers up to 50 awards, each worth pound 8000, towards the cost of tuition fees for one year of a postgraduate Masters course at any of Scotlands higher education institutions

  • Step 2: The application form requires three essays of 250 words each against questions that are-
    • The reasons for choosing Scotland and the particular institution and program for education
    • Explain how Saltire Scholarships can help the candidate in the future and how the candidate can help in promoting Scotland for higher education
    • Explain the experience and skills possessed by the applicant in communication (both written and presentation) and while working with others

Scholarship Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a Saltire Scholarship, candidates must:

    • Have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible course that will be delivered physically in Scotland or via distance online learning or via a combination of both
    • Be a citizen of Canada, India, Japan, USA, Pakistan or China (Hong Kong citizens are also eligible as it is a Special Administrative Region of China)
    • Be able to demonstrate that they can meet the costs of living in Scotland (where this is applicable) and the remaining tuition fees
    • Not have previously studied in Scotland
    • Not have previously received a Saltire Scholarship
    • Meet the language requirements of the course

Applicants must demonstrate:

    • An interest in studying in Scotland and/or at a specific Scottish university
    • The aspiration to work and study in a global context and take a position of leadership in their chosen career
    • A willingness and the necessary interpersonal and communication skills required to participate in the programme of activities that accompanies the scholarships
