Prospective postgraduate research students can apply for financial support towards their University or private accommodation costs. A number of awards are available of £1,750 per annum for the course duration. Selection is based on financial need.

Appication Process for this scholarship

This scholarship is available through the Accommodation Award – Postgraduate Research Degree application in the Scholarships and Funding catalogue, in the Scholarships and Funding section of My Application –

  • After you have applied for your chosen Postgraduate Research course (eg PhD, MPhil, MSt (Res), MSc (Res), MFA) beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, you must allow at least three working days for processing and issue of your log in details before you can apply for this scholarship
  • If you are a current student at St Andrews, you can access Scholarships and Funding through MySaint. However, you should wait until after you have applied for your intended postgraduate programme before doing so, to ensure that the scholarship application is linked to that course

Scholarship Eligibility

  • You must have applied for a postgraduate research programme: MPhil, PhD, MSc(Res), MSt(Res), EngD, MFA
  • Eligible applicants must have a gross annual household income of under £40,000 or a below average household income in their country of residence, and articulate a need for support through a personal financial statement (further details below)
