Vice-Chancellor International Scholarships Scheme are offered at The University of Sydney to those international students who are pursuing a Masters Degree. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade. Selection Criteria:

  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit as assessed from a student’s application for admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.
  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of two nominees of the Executive Director, Sydney Future Students and one nominee of the Admissions Office.

Termination:

The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

i. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

ii. becomes a domestic student,

iii. commences part-time study without prior approval,

iv. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

v. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

vi. has accepted another scholarship administered by the University of Sydney (funded by the University or by a third party), of a value at or exceeding A$10,000 per annum,

vii. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or

viii. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

Scholarship Eligibility

Admission to 15 years full-time requires:

  • a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney, including a major in Economics with a minimum distinction (75%) average, or an equivalent qualification; or
  • Completion of the requirements of the embedded Graduate Certificate in Economic Analysis or Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis with a minimum distinction (75%), or an equivalent qualification; or
  • Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Economics with a minimum high distinction (85%) average, or equivalent qualification

Admission to 1 year full-time requires:

  • completion of the requirements for the embedded Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis or an equivalent qualification; or
  • an Honours degree in a relevant discipline
  • must satisfy the English language proficiency requirement by submitting one of the following tests:
  • IELTS- Overall score of 7, with a minimum score of 65 in each band
  • TOEFL- Overall score of 96, with a minimum of 20 in reading, listening and speaking and 22 in writing
  • PTE- Overall score of 68
  • Must have applied for but not yet commenced a bachelor’s degree or a coursework master’s degree that is a CRICOS registered award program usually delivered onshore at the University of Sydney
  • must be willing to promote the program in which they are enrolled as well as represent the University of Sydney at student orientation, marketing events, and corporate networking events
