King’s College London has the 11th spot among the top 20 universities in the world for psychology according to The Times Higher Education. Clinical, pre-clinical, and health are 16th in the world by subject at universities in 2021.

In the 2004 Research Assessment Exercise, 24 of King’s College London’s subject areas achieved the highest rating of 5 or 5 stars for the quality of their research. In 2007, the Quality Assurance Agency gave the college a favorable assessment following its audit.

Based on regular league table performance, King’s was joint-14th overall in The Sunday Times 10-year (1998-2007) average rating of British institutions. However, the university has recently struggled in domestic league tables, finishing outside of the top 20 in each of the three main tables for 2016. These tables’ methodology includes student satisfaction ratings with significant influence from instruction and feedback. King’s performs worse on the National Student Poll (NSS), placing 133rd for student satisfaction (out of 160 institutes) in the 2015 survey, similar to the majority of other London institutions.

The gap between King’s rating on their (domestic) table and global tables is explained by the 2015 Times and Sunday Times University Guide, which notes that they include student happiness scores as well as reputation scores from academics and employers, and other foreign guides.

Royal College King’s University is 106th out of 123 institutions based on undergraduate students’ satisfaction scores on academic support, teaching, assessment, and feedback. However, despite the shaky results, students continue to apply in large numbers, with an average of 8.1 people applying for every opening for entry in 2014.

Even though the Complete University Guide has been using the NSS findings since at least 2011, King’s managed to stay in the top 20 rankings until the 2015 tables (released in 2014), managing to place 19th despite placing joint-102nd (out of 124) for student satisfaction.

King’s College London graduates are 22nd globally and 5th in the UK in a study by The New York Times that looked at the graduates that business leaders appreciated the most. King’s is 43rd globally and 7th in the UK in the 2015 Global Employability University Survey of international hiring managers. 

In a big data study by the Institute for Fiscal Studies, University of Cambridge, and Harvard University, it was discovered that the top 10% of King’s male graduates working in England had the seventh highest earnings among all UK graduates ten years after graduation, and the top 10% of its female graduates had the ninth highest earnings.

With 84.3% of graduates securing graduate-level employment within six months of graduation, King’s was the sixth-best university in the nation for graduate career prospects in The Guardian University Guide 2017.

The Sunday Times named King’s as the “University of the Year 2010-11” in September 2010. According to hiring managers from the country’s largest corporations, King’s is the fifth-best university in the UK for the caliber of its graduates.
