Education
Sapienza currently offers 300 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, over 60 of which are taught in English, 200 Advanced Professional Courses, over 90 PhDs, and 80 specialization schools. The School of Advanced Studies offers programs and free tuition to the top students. Students with a score of 100 on their Italian high school diploma get an exemption from enrolment fees, and the bonus is extended if they maintain their good grades. is less than 24,000 euros, and there are discounts for students whose ISEE is less than 40,000 euros. There are 48 libraries (four with 24-hour reading rooms), 18 museums, the Ciao and Hello Orientation Offices, and a Sort-Orientation and Tutoring Office in each faculty. It also offers a Disabled Students Office, the Job Soul Placement Office, and a Public Relations Office among the university’s other services. The university promotes numerous cultural, social, and sports activities to experience the campus life. With over 100,000 square meters of facilities to practice all types of sports, the Musica Sapienza orchestras and choirs, the Theatron project, and the web radio RadioSapienza the university offers various activities to students.
Over 30.000 students come from other cities in Italy, nearly 10,000 are international students, and more than 2,200 students participate in international mobility programs each year. Sapienza also offers many international opportunities to its students, including double degrees, scholarships abroad, internships in European and non-European countries, and international PhDs, thanks to a large network of agreements with universities all over the world.
Research at Sapienza
Sapienza’s scientific research activity spans a wide range of disciplines, including archaeology, physics and astrophysics, humanities and cultural heritage, the environment, nanotechnologies, cell and gene therapy, design, aerospace, social and economic sciences, and others. Sapienza also had Nobel laureates and world-renowned scientists as teachers or students.
Structures
Sapienza University has 11 faculties, one School for Advanced Studies, one post-graduate School of Aerospace Engineering, 58 departments, and numerous research and service centers.
The rectorate is collegial, with a Rector, a Deputy Rector, and a group of Assistant Deputy Rectors and delegates with specific competencies, as well as committees and commissions for evaluation, strategic planning, quality, activity integration, and specific topics.

Sapienza university of Rome ranking improved in the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy agency’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects on July 19, 2022, in addition to the general Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
Sapienza scored five first positions in national subject rankings
They are-
Mathematics, physics, automation and control, telecommunication engineering, and aerospace engineering.
The world rankings for the same subjects are also significant, with Mathematics ranking 28th, Physics ranking 34th, Automation & Control ranking 28th, Telecommunication Engineering ranking 51-75, and Aerospace Engineering ranking 30th.
Ecology, Earth Sciences, Nursing, Statistics, and Psychology also had the second position in Italy.
Sapienza also ranks among the best universities in the world by QS World Rankings 2023.
Sapienza is among the top 200 universities in the world, according to the QS World University Ranking 2023. The university has the third in Italy and 171st position in the world.
This confirms the university’s excellent ranking in 2022. Based on the individual indicators, the Academic Reputation parameter- Sapienza’s reputation in international academic circles has an increased score, keeping the university in 74th place globally.
The International Faculty index (percentage of international lecturers) and there was an improvement in the International Students index (percentage of international students) as well.

The University of New South Wales, Sydney 2021 ranking brought together a combination for the three most influential world rankings into a single indicator and- Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). Sapienza now ranks first in Italy and 155th globally, up from 162nd in the 2020 edition as per ARTU’s findings.
